Kukoon is a gallery space as well! We invite local and national artists to showcase their work in our beautiful hall. You get to meet the artist at the vernissage and ask them all you want to know about their work.
Tony Mahoni's small-format drawings are like the road trip of a 10-year-old drawing on the back seat of the car the passing landscapes or depicting the trash can situation of a teenager's flatmate. With a lot of colour, the lifeless environment becomes vibrating matter. He likes to paint animals and plants since he is little. Later in his life, he focussed on stones and rocks until he was more drawn towards the aesthetics of water and waves. After several years of artistic uncertainties and feelings of a certain colourlessness, he starts using colours again—right on time during a social crisis and with a forged resume. The beginning of the lockdown was also birth of his language of colour and shape. After having spent four artistic weeks in Porto as well as a residency in Antwerp, he has returned to his home in Bremen to showcase his oil pastel works at Kukoon.
